I hope your Thanksgiving started off much smoother than mine, friend.
(*see email subject title lol)
But before we get into that, I want to first welcome you to the first edition of The Design Diaries!
With this new rebrand launch, I’m putting my head down and FINALLY going to consistently send out these lovely emails every. single. week. – I SWEAR!
You love them, I love them, it’s a win-win. But if you’re a business owner like me, you are probably all too familiar with how certain business tasks can easily fall through the cracks 😬
But no longer! From now on, you can expect some sort of message from me weekly. Whether it’s top-notch design tips, a behind-the-scenes look on how I run K Made, or simply a quick-but-I-promise-will-be-entertaining story, a weekly email will be delivered straight to your inbox!
Now, about my Thanksgiving hiccup…
We blew a tire.
What a way to begin Thanksgiving break.
Smack dab on Wednesday morning, when everyone and their brother is on the road, car loaded, pies in the back seat, all eagerly hitting the interstate thinking about tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner, we blew a tire.
We were about three hours into our 8 hour road trip, when we hit a sweet (aka annoying) patch of construction, and the road immediately turned rough and loud.
Now, mind you, I already have a severe case of car-problem anxiety (diagnosed by my sweet husband), so it’s safe to say I was already on edge during this patch of rough interstate.
“Is that our car? It sounds pretty loud,” I said.
“No babe, our car is fine,” my husband laughed, “You’re too paranoid about our car falling apart all the time.”
To his defense, I probably say the phrase “Is that our car?” about 50 times a week, and the answer is almost always no.
Except this time lol.
“Actually…” he said, “Maybe it is our car?”
And just as he finished that sentence, I looked out my window and happened to see our very own tire break free and dance down the road like it had it’s own Turkey Day plans!
The next thirty seconds were pretty much controlled chaos as we managed to pull of the road (luckily without hitting anyone lol) and call his parents (who were luckily just a few cars ahead of us).
But when it comes to tire blowouts, it went probably as smooth as you could ask for. Help came in less than two minutes (God bless the Illinois Department of Transportation), the spare was changed in under 20, and the tire shop a mile down had us fixed in under 30.
Making the total delay just under an hour. Clutch.
Now, why am I telling you all this?
(I have a point, I promise!)
Have you been ignoring some warning signs in your business?
See what I did there?
Listen, I get how it goes. You put up a temporary website that will “get the job done,” with a DIY logo that will “work just fine” while you get your business up and running.
But somewhere along the way, you notice some signs here and there that maybe, just maybe, your branding and website aren’t quite keeping up.
Maybe you find yourself struggling to update your website.
Maybe you notice that most of your inquiries aren’t the type of clients you actually want to work with.
Maybe you’ve noticed you’re a little embarrassed to hand out business cards because of your makeshift branding.
Or maybe you’re even like me, who, before my rebrand, found myself slacking on my website maintenance and business marketing, simply because I was tired of putting effort into a brand that no longer reflected who I was.
Whatever the case may be, if you’ve been noticing some warning signs here and there that your brand or website isn’t what it needs to be, it’s probably best to tackle those problems now.
You know, before it blows up in your face and leaves you stranded on an Illinois highway.
Trust me, I know first-hand on what it feels like when your website isn’t reflecting who you are as a business, who you want to be, or who you want to serve.
And let me tell you, the time to tackle those problems is sooner than later! The longer you wait, the more problems pile on, and the bigger of a mountain you’ll have to deal with.
But worry not! This happens to be my specialty 😉
If you want someone to link arms with you and tackle these much-needed business changes together, I volunteer as tribute!
(Oh and PLEASE tell me if you’ve seen the new Hunger Games movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. That’s currently my entire personality.)
All you have to do is click the link below to fill out my inquiry form, and I’ll be in touch to schedule a free, no-commitment Discovery Chat and we can talk alllll about your frustrations and business goals – just in time for the new year!
